With one of the largest open shop workforces in the West, Cobra can provide the best multi scope project teams in the industry. Cobra can strengthen any construction team with our best in class safety record. We also have unique project experience, and relationships built over three decades.
Cobra was started in 1983 by brothers Pete and Pat Dix. Pete has been active in the business operating as its President and CEO for over 30 years. Pat was never active in Cobra, but worked in another jointly owned business, Dix Corporation. Cobra began as a specialized general contractor concentrating on three distinct areas of business: projects involving complicated steel structures or large equipment, metal roofing and siding, and material sales of metal joists and decking.
In the mid 90’s Cobra made a strategic decision to consolidate its focus strictly to the commercial/industrial roofing and siding business. There appeared to be an opportunity in the market place for a professionally run business with a strong project management background. Cobra transformed into a sub contractor with the same team that had been functioning as a general contractor for years.
In 2001, a full time Service Department was established. With employees dedicated strictly to providing great service and solving customers existing roofing siding problems quickly. In 2002 Cobra opened up a branch operation in Washington’s Puget Sound, Auburn, WA.
Since the late 90’s, the Dix’s invested a great deal of time and effort to develop a successful plan for the company. In 2012, Cobra’s first major mark in the plan was completed when Travis Dix and Eric Dix took over as sole, equal owners of the corporation.
In 2012, Cobra started a branch operation just outside Dallas Texas in Arlington. In 2013, we added a branch in Boise, ID. The Dallas branch concentrates on metal roofing and wall systems. Cobra’s branch operation in Boise will actively pursue roofing, waterproofing, and metal roofing and wall systems.
Today, Cobra is nearly a full scope building envelope contractor with four office locations:
- Spokane WA
- Seattle WA
- Boise ID
- Dallas TX
Cobra is still family owned and operated, and employs 200-300 people throughout the Western United States.
